Winter makes me gravitate towards deep, rich shades, especially burgundies. Although, I did want to bring all my burgundy goodness to this post, I restrained myself and picked some all-round favourite products that I have been reaching out the most this season.
1. BOBBI BROWN APRICOT BLUSH (read full review)
Want those snow-kissed cheeks? No idea why this shocking pink blush is called Apricot, but it is perfect to impart that bright, rosy flush that we usually associate the icy cold Winter with.
2. YSL ROUGE VOLUPTE SHINE NO.14
Now, this is not particularly an only-Winter lipstick. Some would even prefer the shade Corail in Love 14, a glossy coral, in Spring/Summer. But sometimes my dry lips yearn for a super hydrating formula and YSL has nailed that.
3. THEBALM CABANA BOY BLUSH (read full review)
This dusky mauvy-pink blush speaks Winter to me. Anyone who has tried theBalm blushes would know the formula is fabulous. Super-pigmented and buttery! Cabana Boy also has a gorgeous hint of shimmer. I cannot recommend this shade enough.
4. NYX MATTE LIPSTICK ALABAMA
I wear red lipstick all year round. I don't need a season for a red pout but this deep, brick red is perfect for this cold season. Alabama is not that MAC Diva-ish burgundy or a tomato red, it is just perfectly in between.
5. PIXI MINERAL DUO APRICOT GLOW
I got this duo in an Ipsy Glam Bag and wow what a formula. So silky, so blendable! And if you see the swatches below the two shades are an amazing combo. I particularly love this duo for on-the-go. Don't have time to plan your eye makeup? Slap these on!
6. ASTOR PERFECT STAY EYESHADOW+LINER (read full review)
These jumbo eye pencils are ideal for eyeshadow base or lining. I love to use them with a slanted brush as an eyeliner. But mostly I use these in my lower lashes for a Winter-ish pop of colour, and I can't think of better colours than Vivid Green and Dark Blue.
7. MAC MINERALIZE MOISTURE FINISH FOUNDATION
I know, I know, mostly glowy skin is a Summer thing, but people, when the skin starts getting itchy and dry in this cold, all I desire is a hydrating base. And for that purpose MAC Mineralize Moisture Finish Fondation is amazing. It is lightweight, very-hydrating, dewy and looks super natural.
(L-R) NYX Alabama, YSL No. 14, Astor Vivid Green, Astor Dark Blue, Pixi Apricot Glow Shade 1, Pixi Apricot Glow Shade 2, Bobbi Brown Apricot, theBalm Cabana Boy |
After being done with the pictures, I realised, oh god I skipped a favourite nail polish. How can I not mention a nail polish in my Winter Makeup Favourites? So even though it is not pictured, one absolute burgundy hit is the Deborah Lippmann Good Girl Gone Bad, which is a glittery dark plum shade.
So beauties, what are you loving this Winter?
